China's SOLWAY helps South Africa develop and utilize solar street lights

In recent years, South Africa's photovoltaic and new energy industries have accelerated their development. Photovoltaic power generation and solar energy power generation have become hot spots for the development of renewable energy in South Africa, and have also become an important part of China-Africa clean energy cooperation. Analysts believe that South Africa's natural endowment and urgent need to develop the photovoltaic industry, coupled with the rich experience and advanced technology accumulated by China's solway companies in the field of photovoltaic new energy, have enabled China-Africa cooperation in the development and utilization of solar street lights to continue to deepen and become more practical.

Become an important partner in South Africa's development of solar street lights

In Garissa County in northeastern Kenya, as night falls, many remote villages fall into darkness, and people can only rely on candles and kerosene lamps for lighting. Even in African metropolises with power grids, frequent power outages disrupt people's daily lives.

Despite the huge potential for renewable energy on the African continent, there are still about 600 million people in Africa who do not have access to electricity. However, with the affordable price of China's solway solar street lights, green renewable energy solar street light products and technologies are becoming more and more popular in South Africa, and the bright prospects of green transformation are within reach.

South Africa's abundant sunshine conditions are very suitable for the development of the photovoltaic industry, and Africa's long coastline provides excellent conditions for the development of offshore wind energy. Since the governments of many countries in South Africa put solar photovoltaic products into operation, the annual average power generation of photovoltaic power stations has exceeded 76 million kWh, which can meet the electricity needs of 70,000 households with a total of more than 380,000 people. It not only frees local residents from the trouble of frequent power outages, but also promotes the development of local industry and commerce, creates a large number of employment opportunities, and can help South Africa save about 24,470 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 64,000 tons each year.

On the African continent, there are many similar Sino-African cooperation solar street lights and photovoltaic new energy projects. In recent years, China and African countries have continuously deepened cooperation and become an important partner in helping the African continent to utilize and develop solar energy.

In Kenya, the China-aided Kenya Solar Demonstration Village Project installed 255 sets of off-grid solar outdoor LED street lights, household systems, 100 sets of residential solar battery storage, and 14 sets of solar post solar lighting, providing clean and reliable electricity for tens of thousands of local residents.

In Tunisia, the 100MW photovoltaic power station in Kairouan, which is under construction, is the country's largest photovoltaic power station project under construction. It is expected to train a large number of local new energy construction and construction talents, and help introduce China's advanced new energy technologies and products to Tunisia. China and South Africa have made new progress in the cooperation in the field of solar energy development and utilization.

Energy shortage is a common problem faced by African countries. According to the International Energy Agency report, by 2030, there will still be 660 million people without electricity in the world, most of whom live in the area south of the Sahara Desert. At the same time, Africa has abundant renewable energy resources, with solar energy, wind energy and hydropower reserves accounting for 40%, 32% and 12% of the world respectively, and there is huge potential for the development of renewable energy.

Solway's next plan is to allow more than 400 million Africans to use electricity through household solar street lights, solar garden lights, and solar wall light systems. In addition to existing forms such as aid, trade, equipment supply, contracting projects, and corporate investment, Solway can explore more forms of cooperation with African countries in the field of solar energy development and utilization, and open up new cooperation space by strengthening technical exchanges, sharing development experience, and increasing investment and financing support.
